    The applicant alleged that his command of Russian was insufficient to enable him to fully understand the accusation against him and to state his case at the trial, and that therefore the authorities’ refusals of his numerous requests to be provided with an interpreter and for the relevant documents to be translated from Russian into Avarian, his mother tongue, were in breach of the Convention.
