Implementing and Enforcing the Victims’ Rights Directive in Hungary

09 Dec 2014: JUSTICIA was pleased to host a bilingual seminar in conjunction with our Hungarian Network partners, the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union, on the Victims' Rights Directive in Budapest on 2 December 2014. International speakers joining local governmental officials and local victim support organisations were:

• Levent Altan, Executive Director, Victims Support Europe
• Urška Umek, Lawyer, Registry of the European Court of Human Rights

In addition, JUSTICIA Programme Manager, Grace Mulvey, travelled to Budapest to highlight the legislative action that all EU Member States must take by 16 November 2015 at the latest, whilst launching the Hungarian translation of the JUSTICIA “Know-Your-Rights Guide on the Victims’ Directive”. This seminar afforded the opportunity to raise awareness of the upcoming transposition date, i.e. 16 November 2015 on the Victims’ Directive, and the rights and obligations contained within the Directive, as well as offered the opportunity to engage with local Hungarian NGOs and government officials.
