04 Feb 2016: The Irish Council for Civil Liberties launched the Implementation of the Right of Access to a Lawyer: Training Manual at an event in Dublin’s Westbury Hotel on 26 January 2016. The manual provides practitioners with practical, applied and accessible resources to support them in implementing the provisions of the EU Directive on the Right to Access a Lawyer.
The ICCL-led trans-European Network JUSTICIA screened a new educational animation on the right to a fair trial was also screened at the launch. Expanding JUSTICIA’s project, the new animation explains procedural rights of suspected and accused persons contained within three EU Directives; the Right to Interpretation and Translation, the Rights to Information, and the Right to Access a Lawyer.
The training manual and new animation can be found on the new TRAINING & RESOURCE tab on the JUSTICIA website, which also contains a range of training resources on the right of access to a lawyer for use by legal practitioners, law and policy makers, and rights holders.
